The True HEPA filter is a filter that utilizes diffusion and impaction mechanisms to trap particles. The diffusion mechanism is largely responsible for the filter's ability to trap smaller particles. This is done by the diffusion of ultrafine particles, which are smaller than 0.3 microns, across the filter fiber. In addition to diffusion, impaction can occur when larger particles are smashed against the filter. This can lead to air escaping around the fibers. However, it will also result in a reduction in filtration efficiency.
